Who We Are:

Calvary is an Assemblies of God church located on the North Shore of Boston.  We are a church that believes in equipping and empowering the next generation of pastors, missionaries, and church leaders.  In fact, we are so passionate about this that the third part of our mission statement is "To Raise Up Leaders and Ministers of the Gospel."

Beyond that, it's tough to cover everything about our church here in just a few short paragraphs, so be sure to head over to our main church website, calvarychristian.church, for more info on us.  Additionally, you can always reach out, and we'll be glad to answer any questions you might have.

What I liked about the internship was how hands-on it was - doing anything from visiting parishioners in the hospital to introducing Sunday morning services and everything in between. This internship opened my eyes, helping me prepare for the future.

Ministry Experience:

All interns will gain hands-on experience in a selected area of ministry based on their unique gifts, working directly with a ministry supervisor. Although they will be assigned a specific ministry and ministry supervisor, all interns will also be given a holistic view of church ministry.  All interns will have the opportunity to see and experience children's ministry, youth ministry, young adult and adult ministry, hospital and shut-in visitation, staff and leadership meetings, communion, baby dedications, water baptisms, funerals, and more.

Spiritual Development:

Interns are also invited to participate in a variety of opportunities for personal spiritual growth. These opportunities include young adult small groups, activities in the wider church for Bible study and peer fellowship, informal mentor meetings with your ministry supervisor, and devotionals led by the Calvary staff.

Time Commitment:

Part-Time Interns - The part-time internship is for local college and seminary students seeking a part-time internship at the church.  This internship is a minimum of 10 hours per week and typically includes time attending one-weekend worship service, participating in the Wednesday staff meeting, and serving in at least one church ministry throughout the week.   Part-time internships are unpaid.

Full-time Summer Interns - Summer interns are asked to serve a minimum of 40 hours per week over five days, with two days off per week.  The 2024 summer internships begins Tuesday, May 28th, goes for ten weeks, and ends Sunday, August 4th.   Full-time summer interns are considered temporary salaried employees and are paid.

Housing & Transportation:

Although no guarantees are given that Calvary will be able to assist summer interns with housing or transportation, we will try.  Please understand that the North Shore of Boston is suburban, spread out, and without much public transportation.  In fact, the nearest bus stop to the church is over a mile away, so having your own car is important.  Housing, if we're able to find it, will most likely be in a host home with someone from the church.

Some Fun:

Boston is a world-renowned destination, and throughout the summer interns will have the opportunity to explore the area through a few organized excursions. Activities may include day trips, dinner outings, and even some historical trips to nearby Salem (where the first missionaries left from the US) and to the nearby city of Boston.
